book printing and production

books – what are they?

Purely technically, a book is a non-periodic printed work, the pages of which are glued (or sewn) in the spine and has at least 48 pages. In simple words, a good book is good relaxation, entertainment and a unique storehouse of information. The more interesting the book is to the reader, the harder it is to put the book down without reading it to the end.

Even though books are now being digitized on a massive scale (tablets and electronic book readers such as Amazon Kindle) and their number in printed form is decreasing (also for practical reasons), there are still many people who prefer a living, tangible book. Readers’ tastes vary widely, just like in music, which gives each author the opportunity to find and connect with their audience.

books – comments, tips and recommendations

To make production of books easier for you, we have collected answers to the most popular questions, as well as various professional recommendations:

  • usually, production of a book takes several months, because you have to schedule the delivery of paper and cover material and take a queue for printing
  • before publishing the book, calculate the budget that you can allocate for this purpose
  • think about what the purpose and content of the book will be, and how you plan to sell this book, what channels you will use – bookstores, shops, internet, social media etc.

Also consider the desired technical nuances:

  • planned book size, vertical or horizontal and type of binding (hard or soft)
  • inner pages black or colored. If the book is going to be black and white with some color pictures, we recommend placing them one after the other
  • cover material and type. Will the covers be printed or made of arfitical/real leather
  • whether you want to print front and back pages or leave them white. Maybe you want to use some colored design paper
  • do you want a bookmark (or maybe two), an extra pocket or some other element
